linux-image-2.6-15-1-686-smp on debian etch

Hi
I'm running debian etch on my computer, and I thought I'd upgrade the
kernel. I'm running the default 2.6.12 kernel now, and I'm trying to
install 2.6.15-1. apt fails with these messages:
Setting up linux-image-2.6.15-1-686-smp (2.6.15-8) ...
Running depmod.
Finding valid ramdisk creators.
Failed to find suitable ramdisk generation tool for kernel version
2.6.15-1-686-smp on running kernel 2.6.12-1-386 in mkinitramfs-kpkg
mkinitrd.yaird
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.15-1-686-smp (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 9
Errors were encountered while processing:
 linux-image-2.6.15-1-686-smp

How can I fix this? Is there some way to make a ramdisk for the
specified kernel version and have apt discover it?
Thanks in advance for any help
Regards
Jon
