Or just run "apt-cache policy icedove", which will show you what version
you have installed and what versions are available.
You should see a couple of lines that look like:
38.8.0-1~deb8u1
500 http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates/main amd64 Packages
If not, then check your sources.list as Davide suggested.
