Package: gnome-alsamixer
Version: 0.9.7~cvs.20060916.ds.1-2
Severity: normal

I have the following alsa configuration:

[bas@Eleanor]~> cat /proc/asound/cards
 0 [HDMI ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI
HDA ATI HDMI at 0xf5010000 irq 17
 2 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xf9000000 irq 22

However, gnome-alsamixer fails to find the card with index 2 (which is
my main card), because the number 1 is missing.

The culprit is the card detection part at lines 286-312 of
gam_app_constructor() in src/gam-app.c, which indeed termines as soon
as an index (in this case 1) does not correspond to an existing card.
Rather than trying this, I guess the program should simply read
/proc/asound/cards and parse the information available there.
