No, they are completely unrelated.

The "ugh" patch could be described as an artifact of using git for
development and the "3.0 (quilt)" source format for Debian releases.

When you change some file in the source and do "dpkg-buildpackage",
the package manager detects that there are changes not reflected in
any of the debian/patches/* and automatically allows the maintainer to
create a new patch. By default, this patch contains the latest
changelog entries, which is the reason you might think that *all* the
changes made to the package are related to whatever changelog entries
were added in the last place.


This package is currently orphaned, but I'm going to do a "QA upload"
fixing the https thing and the soup.ssl_strict thing to close this bug.

If there are still issues, please report them in *different* bugs
(or just talk with the author, who happens to be around). Mixing
different issues in a single bug report makes things more difficult to
manage for us.
