Good evening.
I didn't
appreciate very much the suggestions to the future stable release of
Debian as I found at
http://www.debianart.org/contest/lenny-slogan.html.
So
this is mine:
TURN YOUR EYES ON
Without "!" or "..."
or even a ".".
It's not an order, an advice, a
simple phrase, but it can be all of that and more.
When this
message is shown in a screen could mean:
- This operanting system
(debian) turns your eyes on; or
- By using this operating system
your eyes are turned on;
- Turn eyes on is the same as open the
eyes, that links to the open source;
- Open the eyes is a
mythological metaphor of to learn or to see the truth.
The
sound of the words is funny and beautiful at the same time.
It's
short (only four words and only four syllables).
It's human
(eyes) and it's technical (turn on).
It applies to the
personal user (your) and to the society in general (your).
It's
vaguely like John Lennon said in the song "A Day in the Life"
(Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, 1967): "I'd love
to turn you on" (the last words of the disc).
And it's
linked to the Toy Story character - Lenny...
So this is my
contribution to the pool.
Hope you enjoy!
(Sorry my
english)
