Just override those Lintian message? Essentially we moved away from a symbols file to a plain old shlibs file because the libraries are C++, and maintaining symbols file with C++ libraries is a pain. This fact is acknowledged in section 8.6 of the Debian Policy. So I would just override these, with a comment mentioning that they are C++ and citing policy §8.6. -- .''`.
