You probably want to ask in debian-mentors@lists.debian.org; that's where
most of the packaging helpers hang out.

I wouldn't necessarily sell yourself short on maintaining the package
yourself, though; the mentors people (myself included) will probably be able
to help you out with getting the package ready for inclusion in Debian. 
Remember, we were all the least capable person at some stage in proceedings. 
<grin>  Then you can continue to maintain the package yourself, and probably
apply to be a Developer yourself if you want to go that far.
