Severity: normal

Dear Debian folks,

Currently, certain information regarding the Intel Power Management Controller is unaccessible, as the driver is not packaged by the Debian Linux kernel.

    $ grep INTEL_PMC_CORE /boot/config-5.8.0-2-amd64
    # CONFIG_INTEL_PMC_CORE is not set

This makes it harder to analyze, how power management works, why it often does not, like for example, why package C-State C10 is not reached on the Dell Latitude E7250.

It’d be great, if you selected `INTEL_PMC_CORE` in the configuration to build the driver.

config INTEL_PMC_CORE
        tristate "Intel PMC Core driver"
        depends on PCI
        help
The Intel Platform Controller Hub for Intel Core SoCs provides access
to Power Management Controller registers via a PCI interface. This
driver can utilize debugging capabilities and supported features as
exposed by the Power Management Controller.

          Supported features:
                - SLP_S0_RESIDENCY counter
                - PCH IP Power Gating status
                - LTR Ignore
                - MPHY/PLL gating status (Sunrisepoint PCH only)

Kind regards,

Paul
