Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.82-1+deb9u3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When the battery energy amount achieved a little more than 30% of the maximum, the system poweroff immediately without messages.

This behaviour is not permanent but frequent, about one time on three.

Expected:
The system should warn the user when the setted threshold is attain and poweroff about 10%.

Note: Perhaps the read power or voltage of the battery is wrong on this Pavilion G6 HP portable.

This sort of sudden shutdown is normally triggered by the BIOS or power
managenent controller. This can happen if the battery is worn out and
its voltage drops rapidly, so that the reported charge level is no
longer accurate. (Given that your laptop seems to be a 2011 model, I
wouldn't expect the original battery to still work properly.) All of
this is outside the control of the kernel.

You will need to replace the battery. As a short-term workaround, you
could reconfigure upower to warn and cleanly shut down at higher
reported charge levels (above 30%).

Ben.

The program is absolutely right; therefore, the computer must be wrong.
