OT: Scelta di un server

Ciao a tutti
profondamente soddisfatto del mio "deb", il computerino
giurassico su cui gira Debian da oltre due anni (opera da
firewall, file sharing, server Apache2, Mysql, php e altri
ammennicoli),
mi trovo a dover acquistare un server "vero" per replicare
il sevizio presso  l'ufficio di Roma( io sono a Milano).
Non ne capisco nulla di hardware, così chiedo aiuto alla
lista:
- sui server tower più economici  devo aagiungerle le
schede di rete o già ci sono delle porte disponibili?
- le schede pci dei pc sono compatibili con le schede madri
dei server?
- avrei scelto una configurazione dischi in raid 1, in
quanto avrò un uso limitato dei dischi, ma i dati devo
assolutamente cercare di non perderli , che ne dite?
Ogni ulteriore suggerimento è molto più che gradito.

ps
essendo proprio contento di come funziona l'Etch che ho
installato, allego uno stralcio di  dmesg  per  lasciarvi
intuire su cosa sta girando.
Mi da' problemi solo quando ..... ci metto le mani!!
