Thank you for filing this bug, much appreciated.  I've set the
forwarded URL to the preexisting upstream issue on the removal of
Rope.  If upstream changes its mind about the removal.  The current
upstream maintainer doesn't use this functionality, so it's
effectively unmaintained.  To avoid deprecating your contribution,
would you please update your MR to use Bowler if upstream switches to
it?

Thanks for the reminder ;-)  Salman initially proposed a Recommends,
which I NACKed, (see above paragraph and URL, esp previous
maintainer's NACK of Rope usage for rationale), and also because IIRC
Antoine (anarcat) said he didn't use it either in his initial RFP.  I
also use Elpy without rope.
