	This statement is not convincing either, since it is
 incorrect, in two ways: Firstly, If you purge a package, the
 conffiles are also removed, so emacs continues to work. Secondly, you
 do not need the overhead of two directories to achieve this; you can
 either remove, or purge, vm or Gnus, and 4emacs shall continue to
 work.

	Creating policy and mechanisms rather than getting packages
 to fix bugs is the wrong approach.
