When I wrote this bug, most script did not use the lsb_* functions.
I've updated a few over the years, but not checked how many were left.
If only two are left, great!  The open-backdoor script is still used
as far as I know, to administrate schools locked behind a firewall.
The report-reboot script is used some places, but its task might work
better as a Nagios plugin. :)
