[sverkerw@swipnet.se: Re: Bug#121884: cutils: Info page sorted under "Scheme Programming"]

Hi all,

Here's some discussion about bug#121884, where cutils seems to end up
in the wrong section in the info directory. We think this might be
a bug in install-info, provided by dpkg.

guile1.3-doc (in stable only, fwiw) uses section Scheme Programming,
and cutils uses just Programming, and in the resulting directory,
both are listed under Scheme Programming, which is wrong.

Please CC me as I'm not subscribed to debian-dpkg.

thanks,
Hamish

I got it from guile1.3-doc, and its info file looks O.K. to me:

  bash-2.05a$ zcat /usr/info/guile-ref.info.gz | head -10
This is Info file guile-ref.info, produced by Makeinfo version 1.68
  from the input file guile-ref.texi.

  INFO-DIR-SECTION Scheme Programming
  START-INFO-DIR-ENTRY
  * guile-ref: (guile-ref).  The Guile Reference Manual.
  END-INFO-DIR-ENTRY

Hmmm...I just purged and reinstalled 'cutils' (still 1.6-2) and it was
removed from the Info-dir as it should, then reappeared in the 'Scheme
Programming' section.

I just realized that that section and 'Programming Languages' are the
only two sections containing the word "Programming", and the Scheme
one is the first one listed (no section named simply
'Programming'). Methinks /usr/sbin/install-info rather adds to 'Scheme
Programming' section than creating a new 'Programming' section.

I think this bug should be reassigned to the 'dpkg' package.
