Re: release notes: How to upgrade from kernel 2.4 to 2.6

(Including debian-testing as I think it is relevant.)

Hmm. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to advise against doing that.
Maybe we should advise users to upgrade to a Sarge 2.4 kernel first,
verify that their system is stable and important application function as
expected and then upgrade to a 2.6 kernel later.
That would improve to chances to troubleshoot any problems from the kernel
upgrade and eliminate distribution upgrade problems as possible cause.

Why? AFAIK module-init-tools is pulled in automatically because of
dependencies. (Except if users compile their own kernel from 2.6
kernel-source packages.)

Do you have further information on this?

Also:
- If they have gnome installed (or more general: if udev is installed),
switching to 2.6 will activate udev.
- Be aware of changes in input layer which may require reconfiguration of
keyboard (both for console and X) and mouse (for X).
- Renamed modules; possibility of renamed devices (hda->sda).

Yes, looks you're right. Removed. Thanks.
