[ i'm only subscribed to debian-devel, so please cc: me on the other lists for every reply. Thanks. ] Hello, there. GS-CJK is the extention for GhostScript to handle CJK TrueType fonts. This extention just consists of a patch to a certain PostScript file included in a standard GhostScript distribution. Please look at: http://arashi.debian.or.jp/~take/index-zh-tw.jpeg You can possibly find it is a hard copy of gv and the displayed .ps is a Traditional Chinese (TW) version of the top page of www.debian.org. This .ps file is generated by Netscape and directly rendered with ttf-arphic-bkai00mp and cmap-adobe-cns1 by GhostScript, and is never processed by tools like ttfprint, which i understand renders the image of each character and embed it in the .ps file. GS-CJK enables for GhostScript to directly handle PostScript files including Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters. BTW, to make it easier to set up the CJK TrueType font for GS-CJK, Debian Font Manager (defoma) which i've been working on and just announced at debian-devel is needed. In addition, TrueType font packages must use defoma framework. CMaps are also required. All of the necessary stuffs are found at: http://arashi.debian.or.jp/~take/defoma defoma, defoma-gs, defoma-ps, gs-cjk-resoure and cmap-adobe-? are needed. ttf-arphic-bkai00mp and ttf-arphic-gkai00mp are DEFOMA-aware TrueType font packages. (Netscape seems to generate abnormal PostScript files regarding with Simplified-Chinese web pages unfortunately. GS-CJK cannot handle them.)
