base floppies and boot-floppies package updated
I have generated new base disks and a new boot-floppies package.
The "image" and "base" packages are changed, and the "ae" editor is
added to the base disks. "ae" is from my own build, and I have forwarded
patches to Bill. Its executable is below 20K in size now.
These base disks are size 1400k instead of 1440k because of a typo on
my part. They work fine. The scripts will generate 1440k disks (or any
other size you want).
These base disks work a lot better with the existing installation root
floppy than the ones I uploaded yesterday. The only modification necessary
to the installation root is to install
/usr/src/boot-floppies-0.93.6/utilities/floppy_merge onto the installation
root, and have it be invoked to extract the base system in sbin/dinstall
using the command:
floppy_merge | gunzip | (cd /root; cpio --format=ustar -di)
Ian Murdock should be uploading an installation root disk that does this.
Thanks
