How hard would it be to provide a way to poll for feedback.
On Android for example, most propgress controls don't give you feedback
unless focused; when you care about feedback you can focus on them.
Ideally, I'd prefer something that didn't give me any feedback at all
unless I used review mechanisms to look for it, and then gave feedback
that was fairly fine-grained.
I guess the way that D-I works with speech, it would be challenging to
do that, because I don't think there's a way to update the screen
without speaking the update.
So, probably 1 min or so isn't too bad.
The issue is that if I'm focused on the machine waiting for the install,
I want progress all the time. But if I'm off doing something else, I
really may not care unless the install completes.
One other factor is that presumably if people get too annoyed they will
learn how to shut up the feedback.
