Re: [Debconf-team] Issue with Marks attendance

Hi again,

I would like to make two corrections to my mail yesterday that have
been pointed out by some fellow DebConf organizers: First, I mentioned
that Mark Shuttleworth is not part of Debian - I'm sorry, I meant that
Mark is not part of the DebConf organization - He *is* a Debian
Developer. However, even in his case, Debian is a completely voluntary
group, and we simply cannot make any individual do something he does
not want to. The explanation I sent yesterday stands.

Second, the mail by Alexander I mentioned was not sent explicitly to
you, so -with his permission- I am quoting it here in full.

Greetings,

Dear Mark,

as you might know I'm in Debian's publicity team and am working on an
announcement for the upcoming DebianDay. However, there seems to be
some ambiguity, whether you'll be available for a talk for the DebianDay
or not.

I've been told that there was some miscommunication or
misunderstandings, and as the DebConf Orga Team (which I left five years
ago due to time constraints should you wonder) is currently quite busy
preparing the actual conference, they asked me to clarify and "mediate"
so to speak.

I've also been told, that you seem to think you would not be welcome at
the DebConf. So let me assure you, that this is far from true! We
would really like to see you attending, giving your talks and participating!

The talk selection committee also told me, that a talk from you in the
main conference would be most welcome, even if all deadlines have been
passed already. Just say when you'll be available, and what topic you'd
like to talk about, and I'll make sure that we reserve the slot for you.

If there's anything else the DebConf Team or I personally can do, to
show you that you are welcome, just say it, and I'll do my very best. I
hope that you can manage to attend and I hear a positve answer from you
soon.

Yours sincerely,
  Alexander, aka Tolimar

Best regards,
  Alexander
