Package: xterm Version: 382-2 Severity: minor Hi, I noticed a unicode character rendering issue in xterm since the latest update in debian testing. The problem seems to be limited to double width japanese/chinese characters and only when using the default bitmap x11 font. (just for comparison I tried XTerm.vt100.faceName: DejaVu Sans Mono, it works fine) I attached a screencast where I 'cat' some random japanese text, then hide and unhide the xterm window - some characters are not drawn anymore, but reappear when selected with the mouse. Also some selected and then unselected characters stay highlighted. Changing xterm font size leads to japanese characters drawn as boxes, which shouldn't happen with default unicode font. My only relevant config line for xterm from .Xresourses is: XTerm*font: -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1 (it is straight copy pasted from /etc/X11/app-defaults/XTerm for a larger default font size.) The unicode rendering in xterm was otherwise working at least until couple of weeks ago. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.3.9-wwa (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages xterm depends on: ii libc6 2.36-9 ii libfontconfig1 2.14.1-4 ii libfreetype6 2.12.1+dfsg-5 ii libice6 2:1.0.10-1 ii libtinfo6 6.4-4 ii libutempter0 1.2.1-3 ii libx11-6 2:1.8.6-1 ii libxaw7 2:1.0.14-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.4-1+b1 ii libxft2 2.3.6-1 ii libxinerama1 2:1.1.4-3 ii libxmu6 2:1.1.3-3 ii libxpm4 1:3.5.12-1.1 ii libxt6 1:1.2.1-1.1 ii xbitmaps 1.1.1-2.2 Versions of packages xterm recommends: ii x11-utils 7.7+5 Versions of packages xterm suggests: pn xfonts-cyrillic <none> -- no debconf information
