Bug#96717: RFA: distributed-net -- donate unused CPU cycles - client for distributed.net
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2001-05-07
Severity: normal
Distributed-net is fairly well maintained upstream, but it's binary-only, and
it's therefore a pain to package. It is, however, simple to produce binaries
for other architectures: simply use the -a<architechture> command-line switch
for dpkg-buildpackage (and thus debuild) and you can produce everyone's
packages.
This is not a bad package for a new maintainer to take, but it's not a great
way to learn debian packaging: it's atypical in a number of ways.
In any case, I'll continue to maintain it, but I am not going to be
implementing the wishlist bugs in it. If someone wants to, they're free
to have distributed-net. (Maybe you'll want to pick up
distributed-net-pproxy, now orphaned by Anthony Towns).
