Well, this is similar to #337945. You refused to write the
01tetex.cnf from the maintainer over your locally changed one (which
is BTW the default) and hence teTeX used the old entries, we had in
teTeX 2.0. I've no clue how to solve that problem in general.

1. To solve the problem four you: merge the changes you made in
   01tetex.cnf into 01tetex.cnf.dpkg-dist and replace then
   01tetex.cnf by 01tetex.cnf.dpkg-dist. Then start over.
2. Your problem has nothing to do with #334613, although the error
   messages look similar.

I still assume #334613 to be solved in tetex-bin_3.0-10. I don't
know, why Kenward Vaughan posted into it...
