Ubuntu amd64 is rather less stable than Debian amd64. They already
switched to gcc-4.0 which we found unsatisfactory unstable in the
past.

Also i386 should be slightly more stable than amd64 due to a much
larger group of testers and longer experience with it. But it will
generaly be slightly slower.

That said, I personaly had my first amd64 crash in about 2 years just
last week and had to reboot. Just like I had i386 crash once in a long
while before that.


You just have to test and see if the software you need shows any
obvious problems.
