Comments/Problems:

ethdetect correctly detects the ne2k-pci module
for the NIC. But when doing modprobe ne2k-pci,
modprobe failed with "can't load module".

Investigating showed that insmod ./ne2k-pci.o
produces a lot of unresolved symbols.

Loading isa-pnp.o and 8390.o with insmod by hand
fixes unresolved symbols in ne2k-pci, and made
it loadable. But ethdetect still was not
able to load the module using modprobe, I had to
load it in the shell by hand.

Same effect on the installed system, I had to insmod isa-pnp.o and 8390.o
to get network working.

dhcp networking failed with the following error message:
installer[2084]: /sbin/pump: error while loading shared libraries: libpopt.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

So I had to configure the network using static IP.

One thing which was strange is that after the installation
(in the installed system) ifup appeared to use
dhcp. It did not use the IP I configured in d-i.

---

I installed using brltty! yes, I did! It only
partly worked (had to do:
3 (shell)
mknod /dev/tty0 c 4 0
brltty -b ts -d /dev/tts/0

(will fix this in the next brltty-udeb upload).

base-installer still doesn't handle brltty
installation in the target system, but that was obvious
from the start since I didnt implement that yet.

Besides the problem with the NIC, great work! I actually
installed sarge!

(Resending this with randomized addresses in the To: field; it might have
been eaten by SpamAssassin. Apologies if it reaches BTW twice :-) )

I'm closing a bunch of old installation reports that do not appear to be
related to the current state of the installer (ie. report problems that has
been fixed now; some of these should have been closed ages ago, but never
was). Feel free to test the d-i beta and submit new installation reports :-)
