I think that a lot of Linux/SPARC problems ended up rotting in the 
bugtracker because there was insufficient upstream interest in SPARC, 
and because many upstream developers (KDE, Mozilla and so on) no longer 
had viable SPARC systems.

The question boils down to whether upstream developers would be more 
enthusiastic about xBSD than Linux, or if in fact they've written off 
SPARC as only running server variants of Solaris and being utterly 
dominated by Oracle.
