You could change the shebang to #!/usr/bin/env ruby -rubygems (but I
believe Gem2Deb will break that hotfix) but as far as fixing the issue
with Gems inside of the app itself, you'll need to contact the upstream
author, as Ryan Tomayko put it once: "I cannot unrequire rubygems, but you
can not require it in the first place."
