Sure it was, and I, for one, do hope that dh compat level >= 9 brings
even more for Jessie!

FTR, and just to clarify, I've seen at least one member of the release
team express something similar to: the kind of effects hardening build
flags have can't easily be reviewed in a debdiff, that's why they are
generally rejected at this stage of the freeze (unless the package is
part of one of the more specific hardening sub-goals set by the
security team).
