brio test works fine on amd64 but times out on arm64 and ppc64el

Hi Jim,

the R packaging team has packaged for Debian.  While on amd64
architecture all seems to be fine the CI test has uncovered issues on
arm64[1] and ppc64el[2] architecture (see at the very end of the log
files both

pkg-r-autopkgtest    PASS
autopkgtest [12:23:30]: @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ summary
run-unit-test        FAIL timed out
pkg-r-autopkgtest    PASS


I have access to some arm64 hardware later and I can try to provide
some more detailed information if needed.
