The kernels on an Installation-ISO or Live-ISO should not be
adventurous enough to make this important. The devices on which
the ISO gets presented are supposed to be oldfashioned.
(A 4K disk might cause failure. But who puts an ISO on such a disk ?)
As provider of xorriso i stay neutral towards the boot loaders.

It seems to be more apt with EFI and ISO 9660.
debian-cd needs a few hundred KB to hop out of FAT into ISO.
SYSLINUX needs another operating system to finally get out of FAT.

Another unlikely device type for presenting ISO 9660, too our luck.

Never change a working system.
I assume that this is the true reason why nearly everybody else
still uses ISOLINUX for BIOS booting from ISO 9660.
A well maintained iLive CD system based entirely on GRUB2 would
help to find out whether this is supersticion or deep wisdom.
