I did notice that change to, but I for one did not embrace that particular bit of it: A debian/copyright file might have a long lifespan, and it makes little sense to me to claim conformance with an *unversioned* format location.

I therefore recommend to instead switch to the versioned format again, which also - now that we are back to Subversion - fits within 72 chars:
