lsb-printing dropped

Hi,

See

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lsb/+bug/1536353

According to this Ubuntu bug report Debian seems to have dropped the LSB compatibility packages, especially the printing part got removed:

lsb (9.20150826) unstable; urgency=low

* Drop all the LSB compatibility packages besides lsb-release and lsb-base
    - Drop packages-availability checking in lsb-release
    - Truncate README.Debian to a minimum
    - Document this in lsb-base.NEWS.Debian
  * Change the versioning number to avoid any ambiguity; use joeyh's
version.date, with version being Debian next stable's

This breaks the auto-downloadable LSB-based printer driver packages from OpenPrinting, which are especially provided by Epson.

Could we do something about it?

Could we re-introduce lsb-printing?

Or is there a way to build distribution-independent packages not using the LSB?

   Till
