Package: debian-policy
Sеvеrity: serious

§4.9 defines build-{arch,indep} and binary-{arch,indep} targets; but there is no clean-arch or clean-indep! This is a blatant oversight. As a consequence, buildds waste their precious CPU time on trying to remove architecture-independent files that aren't there in the first place.

So let's add clean-arch and clean-indep to the policy! \o/

Note that I'm not asking for making these targets mandatory yet. Maintainers should be given some time (let's say: 12 years) to update their packages.

Hi Jakub,

in our warmer and warmer century, this energy-economising proposition is very
welcome. This said, I think that we should wait first that debhelper is
rewritten in C and made mandatory for the same reasons. Let's re-open this bug
after.

Have a nice week-end,
