On the other hand, if there is a binary, and one does a man
binary, some people prefer to see something. This, I am afraid, is
merely a matter of preference.

The bug reports are not the important part. Lack of a man page
is grounds for a bug report, the man page is to prevent gazillions of
identical reports.
