I looked through the debian-pilot archives to see if there was any mention of using qtopia-desktop or other software under Debian to sync with a Sharp Zaurus SL-55000. I was surprised that I didn't see anything. I notice that the trolltech ftp site has RPM packages for qtopia-desktop at ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qtopia/qtopia-desktop-1.6.0beta2-1.i386.rmp Could I do something as simple as using alien to install the rpm package?
