Please build your package with lua5.1 so we can drop v5.2 from the archive.
The build system supports it as fallback but you can certainly also try patching to a more up to date lua version.

This does not sound very compelling. lua5.2 is not orphaned and has no
serious issues. If necessary, I'll maintain it myself.
