Well, I can tell you about Switzerland and the UK(London). There are many wifi
hotspots in London, and you should have no trouble at all, especially in the
West End. 3G is also well supported. I would suggest that you have a variety
of options handy. Internet cafes and coffee bars are probably the best
places.
In Switzerland, make sure you have an ethernet cable as well as a dialup modem
as well as wireless, because, depending on where you are, you may have to
resort to any of them. Dialup access to the internet is free from any phone
in Switzerland. Ask at any Swisscom office for info. In general, hotel
concierges are your friends when it comes to finding out about local
connectivity issues.
cheers
