"Styli[sz]ed" is perfect! It could go in place of "simplified" if
there's time for a third draft.
I see other people using the word "conventionali[sz]ed" on the web,
but mostly in the sort of context where the phrase "that's a matter of
semantics" would be followed with a bibliographical reference to
Wittgenstein.
