[debian-knoppix] Knoppix/Debian Questions Need help

Hi:
I have just done a hard disk install of Knoppix version 3.2 20030905 EN. After
the install was complete, I did a apt-get update, I then installed synaptic
and did a upgrade. When that finished I noticed that none of my USB devices
are showing. Could someone help me get my USB system working?
Also I would eventually like to convert this installation to Debian Sid as I
need several applications that are only available in Sid. Is there a safe way
to convert this knoppix install to Sid? The last time I tried I ended up with
several duplicate files one Sid the other a knoppix file and ended up with
several essential files being removed and not able to be restored.
One final Question. I do not have any KDE screensavers installed out side of
blank and random. How can I restore the normal KDE screensavers?
