Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Entering standby (suspend to RAM) hangs the system before reaching the final state.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Unfortunately, I have no clue what causes this. I also tried linux-image-5.2.0-2-amd64 and linux-image-5.3.0-trunk-amd64 with same symptoms. Previous linux-image-4.x works fine. As you see below, it is a laptop
Lenovo X260 with "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz" as per /proc/cpuinfo. I tried docked and undocked (ie, w/o anything connected); w/o a running X, all same symptoms. Syslog provides no clue other than:

Oct 8 09:13:47 ChickenJoe NetworkManager[786]: <info> [1570518827.1569] manager: sleep: sleep requested (sleeping: no enabled: yes)

Oct 8 09:14:49 ChickenJoe kernel: [ 0.000000] Linux version 5.2.0-3-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 8.3.0 (Debian 8.3.0-22)) #1 SMP Debian 5.2.17-1 (2019-09-26)
Oct 8 09:14:49 ChickenJoe kernel: [ 0.000000] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.2.0-3-amd64 root=UUID=c91d32ab-39c0-4366-8a09-c56b12d7cc02 ro quiet

I also have a slightly newer Lenovo X390 running the same kernel + Debian/unstable, which is NOT affected at all.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Final symptoms: power-led blinks as expected for sleep, screens are dark, USB suspended, system is irresponsive to any input, however CPU-fans may still spin if warm. Power cycling needed.

Hi Thorsten & kernel maintainers,

On Sun, 19 Mar 2023, Thorsten wrote:

thanks for coming back on this,

but I do not have that machine anymore for some years, so I cannot say.

Am 18.03.23 um 12:12 schrieb Tomas Pospisek:

does the bug you described in https://bugs.debian.org/941966 still occur? I.e.:

* do you still have that system?
* did you maybe upgrade it to a more recent bullseye kernel?

I'll close this bug then. Because:

* there have been no follow ups by other users with the same problem, that
*might* indicate that the user base that is concerned by this bug is
  small
* there has been a lot of work done between the 5.2.17-1, 5.2.0-2
and 5.3.0-trunk kernels mentioned in the bug report and today's >= 5.10
(in stable) and 6.x (in testing) kernels. So there's a real possibility
that the bug has been fixed in the meantime, but we have no way to
verify it any more since Thorsten doesn't have access to the machine any
  more.
* the kernels mentioned above are not in todays stable distro (but maybe
in the oldstable) and thus probalby won't get official updates/patches
  any more
* even if the bug is closed it should still be findable via search engines
if a user tries to find more information about a bug she is seeing. In
that case this user can reopen this bug and provide more information
about her own system where the problem occurs.

In case anybody disagrees with the above rationale and/or me closing the bug, then please let me know and/or reopen the bug.

Thanks a lot for the report Thorsten and the kernel maintainers for their nice kernels!
