Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.63-2+deb7u2
Severity: normal

I have got a Fujitsu 3313-S2 board trying to get the hw watchdog running
together with the watchdog mechanism from Debian.

I did enable the hw watchdog within the BIOS. So, not having a trigger
to reset the watchdog, the hardware is doing its reboot as expected.

When I do load the sch5627 during boot up using /dev/modules, I can see
a message within (dmesg: sch5627: found sch5627 chip at 0x640).
Eveything looks fine, but checking my existing devices, there has no
/dev/watchdog been registered.

Doing the same stuff with Ubuntu (14.10), loading the sch5627.ko immediatly
creates /dev/watchdog and /dev/watchdog0.
Configuring /etc/watchdog.conf (watchdog-device = /dev/watchdog) and checking
wd_identify, clearly points out the right device (sch56xx watchdog).

I found some information, that the sch5627 is supported since 2.6.39.
And the sch5636 since kernel 3.1.
Using kernel version 3.2. I did not expect to face this kind of problem
with Debian7.

So I wonder what I still can do to get the Debian watchdog mechanism running.

Regards,

A.ST.
