Bug#948189: Please use /etc/kernel/postinst.d hooks for linux-update-symlinks so upstream packages work
Package: linux-base
Version: 4.6
Severity: normal
Currently, Debian packages of the Linux kernel call
linux-update-symlinks manually, and then separately call the
/etc/kernel/postinst.d hooks. Upstream kernel packages (built with "make
bindeb-pkg") call the /etc/kernel/postinst.d hooks but do not call
linux-update-symlinks, which means /vmlinuz and similar don't get
updated.
Please consider running linux-update-symlinks via a
/etc/kernel/postinst.d hook, which would make it work automatically for
upstream kernels.
