Hi!
I would suggest that "Recommends: ibus" in ibus-data is replaced with "Suggests: ibus".
The background for my request is actually an im-config matter. For some of the Ubuntu flavors the default mode of im-config is "cjkv" instead of "auto". I would like to change that to "auto" for as many flavors as possible, but when reaching out to the affected teams, a Kubuntu developer objected.
Reason: The Ubuntu version of plasma-desktop recommends ibus-data for the emoji picker. But since ibus-data recommends ibus, ibus is always pulled, even if it's unnecessary for non-IM users, and they don't want im-config to automatically launch and configure ibus for everyone.
The suggestion in this bug report would stop ibus from being pulled by default in Kubuntu, and thus open for changing "cjkv" in im-config to "auto".
