Bug#942470: consider including .Xmodmap in debug information

Maybe this is some trick to fix things for you but are you sure this has
no adverse effects for others.

That is not good sign ...

Let's keep this open so others may find useful...  But let's not make
modification without thorough understanding.

Did you try reconfiguring "keyboard-configuration" package?

  $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
