Mention error codes, return status.
E.g., what does $?=1 mean, invalid characters even with -c? Etc.
$ make proceedingsb55.txt
iconv -ct big5 proceedingsb5.txt > proceedingsb55.txt
make: *** [proceedingsb55.txt] Error 1

At least say a wimpy

document that.
