Subject: gcj: `-classpath' fails
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.3.4
Delivered-To: submit@bugs.debian.org

Package: gcj
Version: 1:2.95.2-14
Severity: normal

  $ /usr/bin/gcj -classpath /tmp HelloWorld.java
  jc1: Invalid option `-fclasspath=/tmp'

jc1 does claim to accept `--classpath' (not sure whether path is to be
specified in separate argument or in =PATH form), but not
`-fclasspath=PATH'.

(Incidentally, gcj doesn't document having a `-classpath' flag at all, so
you might wish to reassign this bug to libgcj0, which uses the flag when
being compiled. (Maybe `-classpath' worked on an earlier gcj?) But I
suggest that a `-classpath' flag is useful given that it's accepted by
 jdk javac.)

The bugs in these reports are fixed in gcj-3.0. The final release of
gcc-3.0 (including gcj-3.0) is currently available in the testing
distribution. We plan to remove gcj-2.95 and libgcj-2.95.1 from
testing and unstable.
