This fails pretty nastily if you have locally-installed software that uses
libraries. (This is not a new idea.)

I belive that apt has at least partial support for handling this in a
different way (not enabled): If a package is automatically marked for
install soley to satisfy the dependancies of another package, it can
automatically be unistalled later.
