This particular branch of the discussion doesn't seem particularly
helpful, no, and I hadn't planned to continue it further.
I do think NM serves as a useful cautionary tale here, to the extent
that both it and systemd/logind represent ongoing sources of costly
divergence for GNOME packaging, and I think folks who just see the
original tech-ctte decision there may be under the mistaken impression
that that work was over and done with with just a change to package
metadata. However, I don't think this branch of the discussion in
particular is relevant to that point, and I'm happy to drop it.
