Thanks for your report. Indeed it looks like the recommendation to use “sbcl --script …” is incorrect, since SBCL terminates after loading the file, without giving access to a REPL from which you could do the installation. You should follow the other installation option given in the same README file, which is to use (load #p"/usr/share/common- lisp/source/quicklisp/quicklisp.lisp") in the REPL before running (quicklisp-quickstart:install).
