For the purpose of developing Ansible/Puppet/etc manifests I believe that it's a good thing if the Vagrant imagine contains a smaller set of pre-installed packages. That way ones manifests need to be more explicit in specifying needed packages, and those manifests are then more likely to work right away with whatever base image ones VPS/cloud- provider happen to provide. // Andreas
