I'm reluctant to update "xpra" in backports due to incompatibility
with "libav". Newer "xpra" versions were tested with newer "libav"
libraries and recently upstream even disabled x264 codec for older
"incompatible" libav. I know there will be problems with x264 in
backports if I upload recent "xpra" so I have no plans to update 0.9.8
in backports. I think it might be possible but someone have to test in
extensively and I don't have time for that.
I'm surprised that you couldn't connect to xpra-server/0.9.8 with
client from jessie. Although I can certainly do it the other way round
I'd recommend trying to force different encoding if there are any
protocol incompatibilities with default x264. Try to connect with
"--encoding=png", I hope it'll help.
